I used the 15% overnight for two weeks and had no results. I then tried the 20% for two more weeks, and still no results. My teeth are as yellow and stained as they were before, especially the canines. I did not experience any gum sensitivity or tooth pain. The product simply did not work for me. After one month, I can say I completely wasted $400.

This is the best product I ever tried. The 35% Carbamide formula hurts a little bit but it's worth the suffering.

Do you know how many time I have to keep it in my teeth? And for how many days?

Question: I am using the 35% syringes for the first time. I twisted the "cap" off and now the opening of the syringe is exposed to the air. Did I do something wrong. Is the cap supposed to go back on the tip of the syringe? I don't like the idea of storing it exposed.

Yes, you are supposed to keep the twist off cap and replace it on the syringe until you finish using that syringe.

In addition when you remove the twist you need to replace the tip covering upside down. Where it broke off it's a clean break. On the opposite end it is inverted, perfectly fitting over your tip.

I've been using the 20% version for a year and a half. I only tend to do them now for a few days leading up to a special occasion. I have a great smile (meaning straight teeth) to begin with but the compliments I've gotten since using Opalescence have been amazing! I don't use too much in the trays or it will sting my teeth. If I'm lazy I'll also just do the top tray since the bottom teeth are rarely seen much. Typically, I put them in at bedtime though and wake up in the middle of the night and take them out. ينصح به بشده!

I got this free from my dentist when I started my invisalign. I have sensitive teeth & tried the Crest white strips before, they hurt so bad that I never tried again. I figured nothing would every get my teeth white and I wouldnt be able to stand it if it could. Considering this over the counter product had me clawing at my mouth to get the strips out! Im a heavy smoker and coffee drinker and was already dumping a lot of money into my teeth to straighten them so at this point I decided I wanted them white no matter what. My dentist (who is fully aware of my sensitivity issues, they give me a numbing swish to use before I get cleanings) gave me the 15% trays. I was skeptical at first so I was only using the upper trays to see if I noticed a difference in shades between upper and lower. I didn't see any results until after my 2nd tray(itty bitty difference but we had something!). I would leave them on for about 30-40 mins (I was scared still about the sensitivity) at first my teeth were a little splotchy but that has all evened out now. Id go every other day (again, scared of the sensitivity issues) I am now very impressed, Ive used 5 of the 10 upper trays and I have to say there is at least a 5 shade difference between my top teeth and my lower. (time to start using those lower trays!)No sensitivity issues at all, except one time the gel got on my gums and that hurt pretty bad. I just took them off, wiped off my gums and put them back in with no problems. I definitely would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a decent product that works. I am hearing a lot about ordering from Amazon so I will look into that to keep the process going. Hope this helps someone out there cause I know I read A LOT of reviews when I first got it home & was a bit scared by what others have said, but I didnt have any issues and Im quite happy with my progress so far :)

This product is amazing. The key is to have trays that are custom fitted. I suggest starting out with the 10% and leaving on overnight. What has worked best for me is to use for 2-3 nights and then give my teeth a rest as they do become slightly sensitive. Also, it's imperative to use a minimal amount of gel. Also, please keep in mind that your teeth will continue to whiten during the day after the trays have been removed.

I had a terrible experience with this product. I attempted to use it three times, each time wondering what I must be doing incorrectly. This product absolutely burned my gums up, and this was despite following protocol precisely. Mine was the 20% solution. I’ve used Crest strips without trouble, also Zoom whitening with no pain or irritation. Worse yet, the effect it had on my teeth was not good, it made them look like its name, very opalescent, with a blue hue. That couple with the angry red gums, well, it was the opposite of improvement.

Start with 10% and slowly build up to 20% and that shouldn't give you blue tint. Also use less gel and try to put it on bottom of your trays so its as far away from your gums as possible, because as you as you put your trays in, the gel will spread all over your teeth anyways. آمل أن يساعد هذا. I am a Registered Dental Assistant and have been using Opalescence 10% on and off for less than a year. At first I used the product over night for only 2-3 days, due to sensitivity. (Which was slight..but I can't stand sensitivity in my teeth.) Then I used it every other day. After about 1 week I saw a huge difference (3-4 shades lighter.). After my initial week, I've only use it periodically (for 1 night.) I made my husband custom trays today and he is going to try out the 35% Opalescence on Friday (his teeth are heavily stained.). I started him on Sensodyne tooth paste today in the hopes it will help ward off sensitivity. It's very important that your custom trays are trimmed to fit your teeth well. They cannot fit over your gums. You do not need to put a line of the gel across your entire tray. Simply put a tiny drop at the base of each anterior tooth (the teeth at your smile line.). Bleaching the teeth in the back of your mouth is unnecessary. No one sees the teeth in the back of your mouth, and it wastes the product. A tiny drop is all you need!! If you notice it on your gums. wope it off. It will cause pain in your gums.

I love this product. I'm using 35%. The best way I apply the gel is with a small brush that I had from using Latisse (looks like an eyelash brush but thinner). I put a small amount of gel on a clean surface and dip the brush and apply evenly on each tooth (upper first, then lower teeth). I dry the surface of the teeth before applying the gel with the brush then put in my tray. This way the gel goes on smoothly and evenly and doesn't get on my gums. :)

I have the 35% gel and it has worked amazing for me! I have tried many over the counter products and none really seem to work for me. So I first decided to get my teeth professionally whitened at the dentist and my teeth got 4 shades lighter. My teeth looked way lighter and white to my family but not as light as id like them. So I got custom trays made by my dentist and got 2 35% gels and its worked great for me! I now get told I have pearly whites! :)

Do you know how many time I have to keep it in my teeth? And for how many days?

Used 10% for 3 weeks initially and use the same for touch ups for a couple of nights periodically. Fantastic results! SIX shades lighter! As a long time customer of my dentist, I got the trays for free and paid $50 for 8 syringes. I still pay that much when I go get more.

I agree 100%. I am 45 y. o. woman, and I’ve had Zoom Whitening in the past w/o any trouble, but my complaint was it didn’t seem to last. My dentist said this is all he uses (the Opalescence) and I paid appr. $300 for custom trays and 20% gel. I used it precisely three times. It ate my gums up, despite following instructions carefully and precisely. The second and third times were just my hope that I had used too much product. Even with the most miniscule amount, there’s no way it won’t slightly leech up and come into slightest contact with gingiva. I’ve asked my dentist for a refund, as this product was totally horrible for me. On top of that, it actually made my teeth look odd, with blue streaks, somewhat like opals (the name??).

I used the 15% and got fair results. I did not drink tea, only coffee, during treatment period and I would use overnite-every night. I saw better results in the beginning, but I think the coffee reduced the whitening. My dentist said wait 24 hrs before drinking coffee, and don't drink hot coffee.

I had trouble putting the small amount in the trays and when it overloaded that is when I had sensitivity.

I will try again-using 20% overnite-every other day and wait 24 hrs to drink coffee, and drink iced coffee. I wish I could give up the coffee-but I can't! No tea was hard enough!

We do at least 100 whitening treatments per month. I have personally used most professional teeth whitening brands out there. Starting from Zoom to Opalescence and other brands.

Opalescence is not any different compared to others. People have to remember that the main ingredient responsible for whitening is Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide. The higher the concentration of this ingredient in the whitening gel the better results and the higher the risk for sensitivity.

In my opinion the only thing that can make a difference between a Zoom product 25% HP and an Opalescence product 25% HP is the purity of the HP ingredient, which depends on the way they extract it. All the rest in my experience as a dental professional with extensive knowledge and experience in teeth whitening treatments, is non sense.

I have tried both Opalescence and other products on the same patient in a 6 months recall time. Patient was sensitive with both products. This leads me to believe that the so called "anti sensitivity properties" that all companies claim, are just for marketing purposes.

This is by far THE best whitening product I have ever used! I used to use Pearl Drops toothpaste and gel until I discovered Opalescence! I am currently using the 20% and when finished, planning to get the 35% for touch ups.

The Opalescence system works great BUT you have to know how to use it correctly. Here is what you do:

One more thing: Do not use too much gel! Use 1/3 to 1/2 tube when whitening both uppers and lowers together. If whitening only uppers or only lowers, use 1/6 to 1/4 tube. Using too much gel will cause tooth pain.

I received my custom trays yesterday, and I am using 15%. The first time I tried it I felt no sensitivity, which I thought I did something wrong like not use enough of the gel but I did like my dentist told me, just one line all the way around my upper and lower trays. I saw no result from one time, probably because I didn't use enough gel. My dentist told me to leave them in for 2-2 1/2 hours everyday and not to sleep with them because I could swallow or or chew on them at night. Today is the second day I am using my trays and gel and this time I put a little more gel. I made sure I didn't have any gel left over because I was afraid of sensitivity. I did feel some mild sensitivity but that went away after a few hours. Today I did see a little change of color on my front teeth, the sides are harder to bleach for me because they are a shade darker then the front (my dentist said I have multi-color shades). My set was 198$ I know that other people paid less but my custom trays fit really good and I don't have any gel run over (just once I put to much and I felt it on my gums. ooops). I read a lot of positive reviews on this product so I decided to give it a try. I hope it works for me, I am a bit un-patient with results but my dentist said that I get the same results with 15% as I would with 35% and it is much lighter on the gums which is better for my teeth. After my two months supply is up, I will purchase the 15% from amazon which I found to have the cheapest refill syringes than going through my dentist. Once I get better results I will post before and after pictures. I found these reviews very helpful and thought I'd share my experience with this product!

This product works GREAT I used it as soon as I got it. I used the 35% strength. You can feel it working as soon as you put the tray in your mouth. It's really hard to keep it in your mouth a long period of time because your gums will be stinging. I think I should have went with a weaker strength. I would not recommend the higher strength for people with sensitive gums. Is there anything I can put on the guns so they won't get in contact with the gel while I am using the mouth piece?

You can put sensodyne toothpaste in your trays for 10 minutes before or after whitening and it will almost totally numb your gums.

I am currently using Opalescence 20 everyday (1 hour daily) and have been for a month. I am seeing very little results and also there is still yellowing by the gum line. How long until I see more impressive results?

you should probably read the directions that comes with that strength and and or call your dentist. You must not be leaving it in long enough, as you shouldnt have to do it for a month straight, usually there is a 2 week time you do it for to get to the shade you want. Call your dentist .

You need to be using the 20% overnight.. the 20 is slow release and needs a minimum of 6 hours.. i made the same mistake at the start, now using 20% overnight every other day to maintain. I will be however purchasing 35% next as im getting a bit fed up of keeping in mouth tray all night, its not the most comfortable of things lets be honest.

I am also currently using the 20%. The instructions for the 20% recommend to leave in for between 2-4 hours, however I have also read you can leave in overnight. I left in overnight once (6 hours) by accident and I woke up with white burning gums. I think you definitely need to leave in for at least 3 hours. I naturally have fairly white teeth so not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I got fantastic results after 4 hours per day for 5 consecutive days and am trying not to consume food or drinks which could stain (can't give up coffee so drinking it through a straw!) I also plan to get the 35% when I finish the batch of 20% just for touch ups.

I think I read online it takes 30 min to begin breaking down so u r only getting 30 min of whitening if u r doing it for 1 hour. It works up to 10 hours according to google. Only 50% is done in first couple hours.

You've been using it wrong for a month. it's 2-4 hours and some people use it overnight. One hour daily does nothing.

I probably had gum problams for about a week. I rinsed with a hydrogen peroxide solution (I think it was 3 tsp of water with 1 tsp hydrogen peroxide) to prevent infection, and then also with a mix of 2 tsp Benadryl and 2 tsp Mylanta which helps with the pain. I only had bad gum issues once. Most of the other times, I have some oxidation and bleeding which lasts about 2 days.

My teeth were yellow, not very bad, but they definitely weren’t white, they were yellow - ish. I noticed a 4-5 shade difference when I was done with my dentist who used this product ! Those in these comments who speak of barely noticing a difference, are simply judging this product based on a misconceived general sense that everyone should have the same results. When in reality, If your teeth are very stained, obviously you’ll only see about a 2- shade difference. Anyways I did this as a in office visit with 3 (20-minute procedures) and I’m happy with my results, my teeth are now white but I must say that the pain is definitely very very bad. For the first 24 hours I had these bad random 10 second tooth pains (ranking 8 or even 9/10 sometimes) about 20 times a day, on top of that my Lower teeth were in 5/10 pain for almost every second of the day. This pain lasted only a couple days, but the treatment was worth it. Would I recommend this product? Yes, if your teeth are slight yellow, or slightly stained. Would I recommend this product to someone with terrible teeth? No, unless they can afford many many many bleaching procedures. If amount of cost of in office visits (mine was $350) is too much fr you, I suggest you buy their take home tray and syringes, you’ll save a lot of money.

We ordered the Boost whitening system to try in our office. The application was tried on one of our assistants in the practice. We followed the directions exactly. Two 20 minute applications were done utilizing the dam. The results were 2 shades of lifting at the most. The problem came after the application. Within 30 minutes the "zingers" started. They continued into the night. MI paste was placed in bleach trays and worn, around the clock pain relievers were taken, but nothing helped. The following day it was no better, so we did a fluoride application which did not help either. We resorted to numbing her, which helped temporarily. It got to the point that she had to leave to go home due to the immense discomfort she was having. I contacted Opalescence about the issue. They told me that it was rare to have this type of discomfort happen. I hate that our staff member had to endure the pain, but I was very glad that it was not a patient. We have tried many other in office whitening applications, but this by far had the worst side effects of them all and the least shade change. We will continue to search for the right system for our practice to offer, but BOOST will not be it!

I couldn't help but respond to all the information listed here on Opalescence Boost. I am a dental assistant and also a patient. I have used Opalescence for many years and truly believe it is a tried and true product. They claim is not to give you 7-10 shade whiter. After whitening over 700 patients I will let you know that the in office Boost will never give anyone 7 shades and if that practice says they can get you that many shades they are not telling you the truth. In our practice we will tell the patient that Boost is simply just that, A BOOST! it usually gives our patient's a shade to a shade in a half change. You must do some sort of take home right after either that night or the following day. Our best results are the ones that we start right away with the Boost for 2 20 minute sessions, they give each patient the Go Tray whitening from Ultradent. I like the 15% Go. Both systems are Hydrogen peroxide and are stronger than most take home systems. This means that they can cause sensitivity, however if you are using a sensitive toothpaste like Clinpro 5000 from 3M or using Ultradent's Ultraeze in your tray prior to the in office whitening, you will be fine and this really helps with the sensitivity. To this date I have whitened over 400 patients with the Ultradent systems and most of my patient's get 3-6 real Vita Guide shades, not a paper guide that doesn't reflect real colors in dentistry. We in dentistry use this guide for restorative. Every in office whitening system must have a follow up with home trays. If you are not offered that from your dental professional, they do not expect to see no more that the shade change. This again should only give you a boost and they go right into a home tray where system for 10-14 days. Depending on the shade of your teeth in dentistry, A and B shades can do just about any percentage, C and D shades have to work harder and the best results are the in office and wearing a 10% peroxide overnight to get the longest tray wear, and longest activation time. What I do like is that this product has no light and there are no gimmicks! If done right by your dental professional, you will see very good results. I know because I take all my images in Raw settings with my camera and I have over 700 cases. This is what we have found to work the best, and you can't go to a practice that does loosey goose whitening. Insurance doesn't pay for this and our patients know we take this very serious. If you don't see results, its because of the compliance from the patient, not our efforts.

Yikes, quite painful. It took about an hour and I received two 25 minute treatments. I would say my teeth are about 2 shades lighter not the 5-7 they say I would have. The procedure itself was not painful, however, about 45 minutes after is when the ZINGERS begin. it is quite painful. I think the result is the same as doing two crest whitening strips for 30 minutes each back to back. I would save your money and buy the crest strips.

My teeth were somewhat white already. I got Britesmile about 6 years ago, but wanted to get them redone. I received this treatment in 3 - 20 min sessions in one seating at my dentist. While the treatment itself and follow up pain was not comfortable, it only lasted about 18 hours. I am VERY HAPPY with the result. Four people have commented on my teeth being whiter. For that $495, they also gave me a 10 pack of Opalescence Go treys for continued whitening. I would highly recommend this treatment.

I'm a newbie at whitening and these reviews scared the heck out of me. The worst past about the procedure was the cheek opener they used. I had very little pain or sensitivity during the procedure. The dentist did two sessions of 15 min and a 3rd session on my lower teeth only since the tops whitened easier then the bottoms. I had a couple tiny zingers but nothing major. No sensitivity to mention. Not uncomfortable afterwards. I did take 800mg ibuprofen before the procedure just in case things got bad but it wasn't bad! Results were ok. I think I would just just do the take home trays next time.

During the procedure I did not experience any pain or sensitivity. Once I was finished and saw the results I was so disappointed because I could not see a difference in my teeth color. Even the technician couldn't tell because she tried to blame it on the fluorescent lighting of the room. So, we went to the front office to see the results in natural daylight. at that point I thought I saw a half a shade lighter (if that). Hours after the procedure, I started to feel occasional "zingers", but not very long or strong. As the day goes on the "zingers" keep getting stronger and my teeth are so sensitive. I expected much better results, especially for the pain I am feeling. I've used 5 Minute Whitening in the past and have gotten much better results with 0 sensitivity. Do not waste your time and money on Boost in-office treatment! Not worth it!

I opted for the opalescence boost in-chair bleaching option. The first 20 minute application was fine, I didn't experience any pain. But the second 20 minute application hurt so much. I experienced 'zingers' a sharp shooting pain that last for a few seconds during the second half of the procedure. It's now been an hour since I got it whitened and I'm still getting painful zingers, I took two nurofens and my dentist applied GC tooth mousse but it's not helping. I'm experiencing zingers every few minutes and it's so painful. I don't think my shade of teeth have improved at all. This has put me off future in-chair procedures. It isn't worth the pain and money, it was so expensive at $500 AUD and I cannot see any marked difference in my teeth shade.

I was very satisfied with my opalescence boost treatment. I will try to be as objective as I can..

I've ordered my "do at home" treatment at my dentist who made a disposable teeth tray for the opalescence gel. Price: around 125 dollars (tray and 4 20% syringes)

I was satisfied with the results after 4 syringes (around 10 treatments), and the teeth got much whiter.

Then I ordered a refill set (only 4 syringes without tray) and the dentist wanted to charge me around 100 bucks for that, but I managed to order the refill on my own via the wholesale for 30 bucks :) The thing is that law in Croatia states that only dentists can order that sort of dental products and they charge that opportunity big time, but i've ordered at my friends mum practice for the wholesale price.

Lot of people asked me how come my teeth are so white.

Conclusion: I was very happy with the product and i recommend home kit to everyone.

This product sucks, and is NOT worth the pain/sensitivity that it causes. I did the in-office treatment thinking I would leave with a bright white smile. and I was so very disappointed. After the 3- 15 minute grueling, painful sessions I couldn't wait to see my new whiter teeth, and when i looked in the mirror I couldn't believe what I saw. Virtually no change in the whiteness of my teeth!! The process itself was uncomfortable, but afterwards the pain increased by a LOT, and was almost unbearable that I was practically in tears later that night due to the pain. Luckily by the morning, the pain and sensitivity was pretty much gone. but my teeth were not whiter at all! They were maaaaaybe a little brighter? . but I'm not sure. I had 4 20 minute sessions at my dentist office. Yes, I started to feel a little pain towards the end of the second session but it was worth it. My teeth are about 6 shades lighter. For 500 dollars and 6 shades lighter, a little discomfort is not going to hurt anyone. Take a pain pill when you go and you should be fine If I got through Accutane, I can get through anything. The key is how much do you want it and at what cost. I received Boost whitening treatment yesterday at 2pm. It took 30minutes to prep. My mouth is small so she had to use a different type of separator device that was very uncomfortable. She stuffed gauze in and around the gum area to trp the saliva during the treatment. Then she put a rubber cement on my gums and dried it with a small blue light which actually felt very hot. Once dried the rubber cement felt tight and uncomfortable on my gums. Then she proceeded with the whitening process which consisted of 3 15minute sessions. I did not feel any tooth sensitivity at the time - only discomfort from the spreader apparatus and the rubber cement on my gums. By the time she suctioned the last of the gel from my teeth and removed the rubber cement and spreader apparatus I had developed a headache. The whitening itself seemed uneven. I had spots on my teeth that had bright white spots.. And my two front upper teeth still had a tint towards the bottom of the two teeth. They made me trays and told me I could use them for touch ups. Since the whitening treatment, I had several zingers for a few hours but then went to bed and awoke to only teeth sensitivity. Supposed to eat white or clear foods/ drinks for 24hours. I am happy my teeth don't hurt like some of the reviews on here.. But a little disappointed that my whitening treatment wasn't as even as I hoped for. My teeth were not bad to begin with, but I wanted them bright white. The nurse explained I have combo of grey/yellow stains and that grey is harder to remove. Don't think I'll get this treatment again - will use trays and strips for now on.

I almost didn't even go to my appointment because of the reviews on this site, but I wanted whiter teeth for my wedding, so decided the pain was worth it.

Had this done at the dentist's office two days ago. Simple and only one zinger! I always use sensitive teeth toothpaste so maybe that's why I didn't have the pain others have. I'm pretty happy with the results. People definitely noticed the change!

No constant pain, no sensitivity. And it does make my teeth whiter after 2 sessions. But that's it, because I can only stand that much.

I'll just try to keep my teeth from staining. Whitening? I think I've had enough.

i got this done in lima peru so it was cheap (150usd) anyway my teeth have always been super white. super super white. i only did it because i needed a bonding fixed anyway that had yellowed and since it was cheap i figured i could always get my teeth whiter rite? well it came like one shade whiter (but what can u expect when your teeth already are white that ppl think htey are fake?) i think if my teeth were yellower i would have had more dramatic results. pain, there is alot of it. in pero there is no hydros or percs so i did an injection of tramadol didnt feel pain for about 2 hours now im starting to feel a little zingging pain again. for me, since my teeth were already teh whitest vener shade i probably wasted my money but if your teeth arent super white i would recommend it hte one shade it whitened me i have model teeth now so im happy with that. but rememeber no pain no gain. also i did it in office and not at home because i have tmj and didnt want to bite down on the things filled with gel.

I got an in-office Opalescence Boost treatment this morning.

I liked that this whitening product was chemically activated, without the need for UV light (like Zoom), so no chance of burning my gums (as long as the oral dam gel is well applied to the gumline).

Oh, and my formula was the 40% peroxide, instead of the older 38%.

4 shades whiter on bottom (I was told that the bottom is harder to achieve whitening).

I did not get any post fluoride treatment like one reviewer did.

I will probably use the tooth desensitizing gel tray tonight before bed (since they gave them to me anyway).

I would probably suggest that future users opt for the 15 minute/session to minimize likelihood of the sensitivity/zingers.

No one prepared me for the zingers. The only thing mentioned was the 'sensitivity' my teeth would experience after the procedure. After leaving the dentist office, I started feeling the zingers. They intensified and became more frequent when I got home. I called the dentist and she prescribed hydrocodone. Even with the hydrocodone, I was in horrible pain for 12 hours. Twenty-five hours later, the zingers are gone but my teeth are extremely sensitive to air. I was not a good consumer and did not research this product. I relied on the expertise of my dentist. If you are a masochist and thrive on long periods of pain, this is the treatment for you! My teeth are white but not worth the painful experience.

I bought this teeth whitening system as a deal on Groupon. I had 3 rounds of the application and my teeth were white as snow. Within 4 days my teeth appeared worse now than they were before. I will never use this again.

Had my teeth whitened last Friday and love the results. I had 2 - 15 minute sessions. The procedure was not painful - a little uncomfortable with all the stuff in your mouth, but nothing unbearable. I was told to use Sensidyne toothpaste for the week before and did. I had only slight sensitivity later in the evening after the whitening session. Took Ibuprofen as a precautionary messure, but didn't need to use the vials of desensitizing gel. Very good experience and I would definitely do it again.

I did my teeth whitening in 2 sessions 20 minutes each 6 hours ago and I only feel some discomfort after 2/3 hours but nothing that I have to take pain killers or even the anti sensitivity gel in the trays.

And you know what?? I'm so happy with my whitening !! I get 2 shades only in the office and I have my work to do during this week with my trays. )

I paid $350 for the in office, and although it was painful after 30 minutes, my teeth were noticeably whiter. I'm picking up my whitening tray today and they said my teeth should get even whiter with it, so I don't think this procedure it too bad. However, I wouldn't want to do another session again, it was so painful I had to end it 5 minutes early! The pain did go away after a day though.

Unfortunately I didn't read this site before having the procedure done, so wasn't prepared for the pain. My dentist applied it and left it on for 45 minutes, which was when the pain started. The "zingers" lasted for about three hours, and my teeth have been a bit sensitive (now 24 hours later). The results have been really good, but I'm definitely not going back for the second session!

Hi Rob - I paid about R2000 for both sessions - you also need to have your teeth cleaned before that which they charge you extra for.

The pain is so so not worth it. Teeth are whiter but I am not happy. It has been 4 hours since the procedure. I took otc Advil before. Took prescription strength ibuprofen when I made it home. I found this site before actually getting my teeth whitened, so I guess you could say I knew what I was getting myself into. I'd wanted to do an in-office teeth whitening procedure for some time and paid only $70 to have this done at a charity event/silent auction (valued at $500). I was prepared for pain based on these reviews and the fact that my teeth are pretty porous and sensitive to begin with, so I took 800mg of Ibprofin before the procedure, as well as used the desensitivity gel in the trays for 30 minutes starting three days before. The first treatment was actually very comfortable and I almost fell asleep. After that, though, it all went downhill. I started getting mild "zingers" during the second round of bleach and by the end of it, I was cursing myself for thinking I could suck it up and deal with the pain! I went ahead with the third and final bleaching session, but only made it halfway through because not only was the pain so terrible, my protective "dam" had begun to come lose/slide around, causing the bleach to burn my gums. It has been about 5 hours since the procedure, and I have had another 800mg of Ibprofin, as well as another 30 minutes of desensitivity gel in the trays and brushed with Sensodyne toothpaste. The zingers from hell are starting to fade a bit, but it is still very painful and so random - I have no warning which tooth will get hit or how hard it will hurt. Some of them leave shooting pain all the way up my face!

I agree the procedure was long and rather uncomfortable. I sat in the chair for almost two hours with so much crap stuffed into my mouth and with my mouth pried open the whole time. I could barely breathe not to mention swallow. Even the dental assistant stated that it would be an hour of torture, but claimed it would be worth it. I am not so sure. My teeth are slightly whiter but not noticeably. Not to mention, she wasnt able to get my bottom teeth to match the whiteness of my top teeth even after four treatments. I also have noticed my teeth are streaky/spotted now. Tooth pain/sensitivity was not bad at all and only lasted a day. I will not be doing this again, had I known I would have stuck with the Crest white strips :(

I had my teeth whitened thru Groupon, and got really lucky. I have used Zoom! Before, which I know is only 25% bleach, and Boost whitening is 40%! I had sensitivity, yes, but nothing I couldn't handle! Results were awesome, I am so happy! Dr Hornbrook in La Mesa is the best office I have ever been to! Highly recommend their team!

Went earlier today to have the in-office procedure. The tech did a good job of covering my gums but I still got a painful burn. I took 800mg of Advil before the procedure and 800mg several hours after. It is painful but not unbearable. It got my teeth 4 shades whiter in 40 min. I'm a coffee and wine drinker so I also bought the trays which should help boost the whitening effects. Overall I'm happy with the results, no pain no gain!

EXTREMELY painful!! I didn't research this enough beforehand obviously. I would not have done this if I knew it was this painful. النتائج جيدة. The dental assistant did not prepare my gums well enough either, because I had a bad white burn mark on one spot of my gums. And I am getting HORRIBLE "zingers", ouch!! Very painful indeed. I had a tooth pulled before and it was not as uncomfortable as this. I don't think the dentist did a good job isolating my gum from the powerful Boost bleaching agent. The discomfort started as soon as he began applying the chemical onto my teeth. I could feel the chemical bubbling up and I had the feeling like it was eating away at my gum. The 40 minute treatment was agonizing. I felt like getting up off the dentist's chair and just telling him that I couldn't take it any longer. My teeth and gum felt extremely sensitive after the treatment. I also notice burn marks on parts of my gum when the treatment was done. The Dentist tried to assure me that they would go away and my gum would return to normal pretty soon.

I am happy with the whitening results of boost whitening. However, I was in a lot of pain during the procedure and I am still struggling with it some hours later. I'm in enough pain to research this product and compare my story with others. Like many that have commented already, the pain I encountered was worse than any other pain I have had with dental procedures in the past (fillings and root canals).

It's been about 4 hours and my teeth are still in extreme pain. I've had lots of dental work, and nothing hurt this badly. I've had tattoos done and not winced, but this pain has made me cry. That's how bad it is. I've taken way too many pain killers and they've not helped at all. God end this pain! Do NOT do this.

HORRIBLE PAIN! Wouldn't have gone, if i knew about the terrible pain I had to go thru. The dentist knows what he is doing, so he followed all the necessary procedures..still the results are NOT amazing. My teeth came whiter but with lots of white stains. They look whiter form faraway, just because of those white stains. I hope they go away, even though I'm very skeptical. I did only 2 treatments in office, because of the pain (high sensitivity). I need to go for the 3rd one next month, still thinking whether to do it or not. Overall I would not recommend this product. I had the same result with Crest Professional whitening strips. Exactly the same results!

I have used the 10% Opalescence in my custon trays and have been happy with the results. No sensitivity with them. I decided to get the Boost treatment to look good for my upcoming reunion. I couldn't be sorrier. The technician did a good job protecting my tissue with the oral dam and during the proceedure I didn't have any discomfort. The pain started after 45 mins and intensified to the point that the stabbing pains deep in each tooth feels like a root canal with no novocain. I cant talk, or eat and the constant discomfort is getting unbearable. I used the desensitising gel and it hasn't helped! Hydrocodone doesnt even touch the level of pain this has caused. The results are great but no one will see it because the air on my teeth makes it impossible to even smile. Say NO to Boost. You will SUFFER UNBELIEVABLE AGONY. My question now is when will it stop?

OMG that seems so severe. I had the sensitivity too and i saw an add for a good deal for this teeth whitening. how is the pain now?? is it still severe?? I hope u are ok.

I just had the office Boost Whitening today and 4 hours later I am still in HUGE pain. Each tooth aches and I cant eat or drink. Even the thought of breathing with an open mouth seems like it will hurt I get sick even thinking about it.

I had Boost done yesterday in my dentist's office. The only pain/discomfort I felt and am still feeling is in my jaw from keeping my mouth open and biting on the bite plate. Apparently my hygentist knows what she is doing b/c I experienced no pain and did 6 treatments in about 1 1/2 hrs. My teeth were pretty white to begin with, but I can tell the difference. Besides the expense, I would reccommend.

The degree of sensitivity caused with whitening varies from patient to patient. Some experience very little to none, while others such as yourself, experience severe. It is not permanant and does not damage the tooth long term. As with any cosmetic procedure, including teeth whitening, there is a degree of post operative discomfort.

oh my gosh! just had boost done an hour ago and i will NEVER do this again! i am in such pain. i am online to see if this is normal. i am not too sensitive normally and this was very misleading on the amount of pain.

i had boost done yesterday and had a wonderful experience. my initial tooth shade was already the 2nd whitest on the natural scale, so I knew to not expect to get too many shades whiter. boost made my teeth two shades whiter, which is great. i did not then and still do not have any pain. i did use sensodyne toothpaste off/on for about a week prior, not sure if that helped. i am happy with the results. i am a coffee drinker so i will need follow-up with at home treatments to maintain this level of whiteness.

The pain is awful!! I have had a root canal and 3 fillings done 3 months earlier and they did not hurt as bad as this BOOST Whitening.. I had minimal white lines on my teeth from braces when I was younger, I was told by the hygienist that the procedure would make them go away. Was she ever wrong the whitening made it worse and some teeth are streaked and like I said at the beginning the pain is unbearable!! I will tell everyone I know to not have this done.

I just got this done two days ago. I had a LOT of pain afterword. My teeth were white to begin with, I just wanted REALLY white teeth. They are noticeably whiter, I guess, but they are streaky. I REALLY hope the streaks go away.

The boost procedure was great! I was well informed before we started, my dental assistant took time to explain everything and answer ALL my questions, she explained what she was doing at every step. I think those bad experiences where there has been gum/tooth sensitivity may be due to "operator error". Make sure your technician knows what they are doing! My teeth look great, I knew what and what not to expect, I'd definitely do it every couple of years because I can't wear those trays or strips!

There is very little operating error that can cause tooth sensitivity. The operator errors would be much more likely to cause gum problems, such as not properly sealing the gums before applying the whitening gel. The whitening gel itself comes in a syring, and it is simply applied to the tooth and allowed to sit in 3-4 twenty minute sessions. Unless an assistant did more than 20 minutes at a time or went over 6 sessions, there is really nothing that she can personally do to cause more tooth sensitivity. It all has to do with the individual teeth. Some teeth are more sensitive than others due to the tooth make-up, not the assistant applying the gel.

I work for a dental office and happened to stumble across the Boost Whitening in a brochure. The assistant and I ordered the Boost whitening to both try because we both wanted to whiten our teeth. I have done Zoom and had sensitivity before. However, I took all the precautions for this Boost procedure and could not be more disappointed. I used a fluoride paste for two weeks beforehand and had the assistant apply to Opaldam to protect my gums. I went through the first ten minutes with slight sensitivty on my gums. After the first session, we removed some of the Opaldam and replaced it to make sure that my gums were protected. After another ten minutes, my teeth were so insanely sensitive it felt like lightning was going through my nerves. We removed the Boost and I was in instant pain. I begged my dentist to numb me because the pain was too intense. I would not recommend this product to anyone and we will not be offering this service in our office. In my opinion, I would rather have yellow teeth than be in that amount of pain again!

I couldn't agree with you more. The pain is just too ridiculous for what it's worth.

I had a filling and a root scaling in over a months time. These procedures were uncomfortable but not painful. Today at noon, I went in to get my teeth whitened - HOLY COW! I have been in such pain almost cried and it's night time. Prior to the official bleaching time, The dental assistant took several impressions / mold of my teeth with this putty. She said it was for the trays they were going to give me but after the treatment said they did not have the trays ready for me and I would have to come back. Mistake #1 did not research #2 I didn't ask enough questions regarding pain, sensitivity, etc. The final results-some parts of my teeth look whiter but very uneven. If you are considering this, It's not worth it. Don't make the same mistakes I did.

I had this procedure done three days ago. I had the same experience and and results. Greatly disappointed after paying $300.

I just had the in-office Boost Whitening Treatment for $400. I reviewed the comments on this site before the procedure and was prepared for pain and disappointment. I did take one reviewer's advice and took 2 Advil an hour before. The result - no pain whatsoever. Was it me or was it the Advil? I can't say, but I'm pain free 3 hours later.

I would say you get what you pay for. The hygenist preped me for half an hour with vaseline on my lips and a very carefully placed dental dam on my gums. This kept the bleach off sensitive areas in my mouth. If you are not getting a thorough prep before the bleach gel is applied, the chances for pain are increased.

The 3 applications of bleach gel each lasted 15 minutes. It was slowly applied and then moved around to cover each tooth evenly. After the last application my mouth was rinsed as often as I wanted.

The last part of the procedure involved a flouride treatment to help close the tooth pores bleaching opens and to reduce sensitivity.

I was given the Boost Take Home Kit that contained the sensitivity trays, touch-up whitening trays and toothpaste.

I was in-office for 2 hours.

My dentist told me that she has people coming in asking for just whitening; no exam, no treatment for cleaning, no fixing of fractures, cavities or gum disease. No wonder people have pain if they don't correct these problems before bleaching.

My results: no startling Chicklet-white teeth. But my teeth are stain-free and whiter than I have had in decades. I can use the whitening trays to whiten my teeth even further if I wish.

I got the take home version of this. It worked fantastic. I have been a smoker a long time and my teeth are WHITE! شيء مذهل. I used 3 applications of this at 30 mins each (everyother night) and within the week I started getting compliments. Im not sure wha they are doing to you guys at the dentist office but ask for the take home version if you can. It cost me around $200 for 4 tubes of the whitening product and the personalized mouth tray. Worth every last penny.

This was a terrible experience. The tech showed me the coloration chart and we picked my closest match. the lightest on the chart. She said my results would be so white they'd be off the chart. I was hopeful that would be true. The results were not even noticeable. She held up the original color match and it was exactly the same. Not a bit of difference at all. I am about to be married in a couple of weeks so I am so disappointed. My teeth have been seriously aching for over 7 hours now. 3 advil are not helping. Just the air hurts. I DO NOT recommend this product. I had better results with Crest Whitening strips for $35.

I had it done about 2 weeks ago. My teeth were already very white, but I see some improvement. After the treatment, I had sensitivity in one tooth for one day. It was a bit intense, very sharp pains, but they were short(lasted for a few secs) and only happened every 3-4 mins. I considered taking something for the pain, but decided to just tough it out. Over all I am satisfied I guess. I got a super sweet deal(only $89), so I can't complain. I can definitely see where the pain could be tough to deal with. I did have a dentist friend recommend that I take a couple of ibuprophens an hour before the treatment. He said it would help. I didn't follow that advice. I would recommend that to anyone having the procedure.
